Ben McCall is the faculty advisor of the Illinois Biodiesel Initiative,
an effort to (partially) fuel the campus fleet with biodiesel produced
from used cooking oil from campus dining halls.

We are investigating ways to further improve the environmental sustainability
of nickel-iron batteries, invented by Thomas Edison in 1901.

We are working to develop a new approach to refrigeration that will
combine the use of a solar thermal adsorption cycle with thermal energy
storage.
