Dr. Brian Siller

Brian Siller recently defended his PhD thesis! He has accepted a Research Scientist position at Tiger Optics, a company that specializes in making continuous wave cavity ringdown spectrometers for quantitative trace gas detection. He will be working both on improving the performance of their current instruments and early-stage development of some completely new ones.
Jacob Stewart accepts postdoc at Emory

Jacob Stewart has accepted a postdoctoral position at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He will help with teaching the undergraduate physical chemistry lab classes there and performing research with Michael Heaven, starting in July. Congratulations, Jacob!

Sub-Doppler Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy of Molecular Ions

As just reported in a cover article in Chemical Physics Letters, the McCall group has now implemented the first versatile technique for high-precision spectroscopy of molecular ions in the mid-infrared. This exciting result will have many applications in supporting astronomical observations, among other areas.
NICE-OHMS in Mid-Infrared

In recent papers in Optics Letters and Chemical Physics Letters, the McCall group has demonstrated the first two widely-tunable implementations of the ultra-sensitive NICE-OHMS technique in the mid-infrared region.

High Precision Frequency Measurement

This week, we made the first high-precision frequency measurement of our Titanium:Sapphire laser (325,144,828.1 ± 0.1 MHz) using our optical frequency comb. This breakthrough paves the way for highly precise and accurate infrared spectroscopy!

DFG Mk II: First Light

Kyle Crabtree and Carrie Kauffman obtained first light from the second difference frequency generation (DFG) laser system in our lab! This DFG is made from a Nd:YVO4 laser at 532 nm and a tunable dye laser.
